Trump's Organization Sought to Hire Almost 200 Workers on Visas in 2025

Donald Trump’s corporate entity accelerated its recruitment of overseas employees on short-term work permits this year, even as his administration was creating barriers for other companies attempting to do the same, a report released recently stated.

Based on data from the US Department of Labor, the business sought to bring in at least nearly 200 overseas employees in 2025 for short-term roles at the US president’s Florida property, golf facilities and his winery in Virginia.

The quantity of requests for temporary work visas covering staff including waitstaff, office assistants, housekeepers, kitchen staff and agricultural laborers was the record filed by the organization, and up from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency ended.

It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that Trump had attempted to bring in over a hundred foreign employees for seasonal jobs at Mar-a-Lago, based on available data.

The revelation coincides with a tightening on legal immigration by his administration that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the actions of the 55 million people who possess American work permits; and restrictive new rules for foreign students and journalists.

In total, the business sought to employ 566 overseas workers over the period the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.

Notably, the former president was criticized by certain in the GOP this period for comments defending the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.

“You can’t just say a country is coming in, going to spend billions to build a plant, and going to recruit individuals off an unemployment line who haven’t worked in years, and they’re going to start producing their missiles. It doesn’t work that well,” he stated to a interviewer after she suggested that foreign workers undercut the pay of American employees.

The administration refused a request for response, and the business did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
